The Organisation

Our client is a large charitable trust that undertakes, promotes and advances clinical research, audits and evidence based practice and education. High quality and beneficial pharmaceutical therapies through clinical trial research being their aim.

The Position (FTE 8 months – may extend)

  • Reporting to the Charge Nurse Manager, you will be a qualified Physiotherapist interested to now be based in a community setting (South Auckland) working with the Principal investigator on this exciting respiratory research project
  • You will be supporting one other (a Registered Nurse also on contract, with Research experience who will set up the study and get all processes for the trial in place and working) and together you will both then lead service delivery in clinics and education in the research project
  • Self direction is required to work within the study protocol and you will be acting in the role of clinical respiratory Physiotherapist expert, educator and coordinator
  • You will also be a participant advocate at all times. Note: the trial participants have already been recruited, and you will be reengaging with the participants and following up with them regarding this research project. This also includes collaborating with their families/whanau and the research team, and you will thus be encouraging communication and collaboration with stakeholders across the health sector
  • Whilst reviewing clinical trial protocols, you will coordinate research clinic appointments (Spirometry testing) and liaise with the trial Investigator
  • Also related are other associated duties – compliance with regulatory requirements, safety reporting and working within ICH – GCP guidelines (E6,R2)
  • Accurate clear documentation and computer data entry skills are paramount

You

  • As an experienced Physiotherapist (current NZ registration) you will have several years experience, and you may also have been acting in the role of a clinical specialist (Respiratory) supporting general practice and other community providers caring for those with respiratory conditions
  • But you must have experience in the use and calibration of Spirometry equipment
  • A postgraduate qualification, or working towards one, is advantageous  
  • You will also possess excellent oral and written communication skills, and be a confident computer user (MS Word, Excel basics, Outlook) with the ability to manage pressure to meet your trial deadlines
  • A Full Drivers Licence is required as on the odd occasion you may be using the available vehicle to make a home visit
  • Clinical research experience is not required

Note: Both contracts may extend (funding dependent). Hours are 40/week, Monday to Friday. Appropriate training in the role and a top salary applies. Early March 2018 start date applies.
