In your new role as a Finance & Grants Officer, you will be working for a leading charitable organisation committed to supporting communities across New Zealand.  This Wellington-based role combines financial management with grants administration, offering variety, responsibility, and the opportunity to make a direct impact in our communities.

The Role - This is a dual-focused position where you will act as a go between for the finance and grants teams. 

Finance Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daily uploads of banking data and weekly reporting
  • Manage payroll for staff and directors on a fortnightly basis
  • Prepare monthly GST and returns for Inland Revenue.
  • Maintain the Fixed Assets register and process depreciation entries
  • Ensure timely venue payments and monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Produce monthly financial statements and performance reports
  • Support the Finance Manager and CEO with additional accounting duties as required
Grants Responsibilities:
  • Receive, review, and process grant applications
  • Research applicants to ensure eligibility and compliance with funding criteria
  • Prepare application summaries and assist members with decisions
  • Communicate decisions to applicants and provide timely reporting
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with grant applicants, stakeholders, and community organisations
  • Support with grant auditing and compliance obligations

About You - We are looking for someone with:
  • Proven experience in accounting, payroll, and financial reporting
  • Strong knowledge of accounting systems and advanced Microsoft Office skills
  • Experience in grants administration, customer service, or community funding is desirable
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach and a genuine commitment to supporting New Zealand communities
