Our client, New Zealand's largest private surgical facility, is offering an exciting opportunity for experienced senior Registered Nurses to join their esteemed Advanced Nursing team as Clinical Nurse Advisors.

About the Company

This leading private surgical facility boasts 22 theatres (with 10 more under construction) across 3 sites, including ICU and HDU. They offer comprehensive specialties including Orthopaedics/Spinal, Colorectal/Gastro, Gynae, Urology, Neurology, Oncology, reconstructive Plastics, and more.

About the Role

The role provides flexible path choices, with options for permanent (full or part-time), fixed-term, or casual positions. Under the guidance of the dynamic Charge Nurse Manager, the role is both challenging and rewarding, with shifts spanning 10 hours from Monday to Friday and extending to 12 hours on weekends.

This role is perfect for experienced senior nurses with advanced clinical skills and a knack for managing staff and facility matters during after-hours. As the primary point of contact for clinical emergencies, you will support your colleagues in escalating care and managing clinical deterioration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight of operational matters during after-hours and weekends
  • Offer specialist, evidence-based clinical support and expertise at the bedside, ensuring safe and effective care
  • Advocate for patients, families, and colleagues
  • Use advanced assessment skills to support the clinical assessment of patients and escalate as needed
  • Monitor and adjust staffing levels to ensure a safe and balanced environment
  • Liaise with the in-house Bureau to manage bed allocations and casual staffing appropriately

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Current rich and varied clinical experience demonstrating high-level clinical expertise and leadership
  • Experience in ICU/HDU or Emergency Department environments
  • Advanced clinical techniques such as cannulation, phlebotomy, ECG, and catheterization
  • ACLS certification
  • Completed or commenced study in a postgraduate advanced clinical pathway
