Job description

  • Permanent full-time position based in Auckland and regularly travelling to the Christchurch branch.

About the Company:

They are one of New Zealand's leading companies in the field of poultry transportation. They work alongside some of the biggest names in New Zealand's poultry industry to deliver tailor-made solutions to a high standard. This is a beneficial time to join the company as they have over 110 employees and are continuing to grow and develop! They have grown into a national transport provider, with operations in both Auckland and Christchurch.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all poultry operations making sure they are compliant and deliver results across the business.
  • Ongoing development and coaching of direct reports and wider team.
  • Organise and lead regular team meetings and attend all relevant management meetings when required.
  • Oversee the recruitment process and manage the requirements for overseas workers visas and visa accreditation.
  • Overseeing the fleet and equipment of approx. 100 pieces.
  • Ensuring all vehicles and equipment is maintained with daily checks and in good working conditions.
  • Ensure that the Animal Welfare Code and bio security procedures are always being followed by all employees.
  • Actively promote excellence in workplace health and safety in accordance with the organisations policy and processes.

To excel in this role:

  • Proven experience in effectively leading and managing people.
  • A sound level of transport experience.
  • Experience in the Poultry industry is beneficial (not required).
  • Class 1 full NZ drivers' licence.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) and can understand and convey information across the business.
  • Be a confident decision-maker who demonstrates critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to make timely decisions that keep people safe in the workplace.
  • Experience in planning and budgeting.
