Role Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Clinical Research Pharmacist responsible for providing comprehensive pharmacy services to support clinical trial activities. This role is crucial in ensuring the effective and efficient management of investigational products and pharmacy-related services for ongoing clinical trials.

The Clinical Research Pharmacist will also coordinate participant-centred activities for Commercial and Investigator Initiated Clinical Trial (IICT) protocols. This includes pre-screening, recruiting participants, and managing those enrolled in clinical research trials, all in accordance with International Conference on Harmonisation (ICH) Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary contact for all pharmacy services related to clinical trials.
  • Coordinate pharmacy services, including feasibility assessments and ongoing support for clinical trials.
  • Ensure investigational products are compounded per protocols and manage their supply and stock control.
  • Participate in the unblinded team for clinical trials.
  • Oversee the 24/7 Drug Room temperature monitoring system and participate in the on-call roster.
  • Manage the inventory of clinical investigational drug trials, including ordering, replacing, and returning study drugs.
  • Develop and maintain clinical trial protocols, documentation, and SOPs in accordance with GCP and legal regulations.
  • Provide timely and accurate financial activities and quotations related to clinical trials.
  • Participate in protocol trainings, sponsor reviews, audits, and compliance activities.
  • Liaise with the Director of Clinical Operations and Business Manager for decisions on clinical trial applications.
  • Provide clinical pharmacy services to trial participants, including education and form development.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree qualification in Pharmacy.
  • New Zealand registered Pharmacist.
  • Relevant hospital or clinical experience.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Organized, motivated, and able to manage competing priorities.
  • Strategic thinking and planning abilities.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to professional development.
  • Clean, current driver's license.

Desirable:

  • Postgraduate qualification or clinical trials training.
  • Experience in initiating and conducting research and clinical trials.
  • Proficiency in IT (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Financial acumen and statistical skills.
