A very special role has arisen in this thriving family owned and operated business, with a Jan 2024 start date. Seeking a grounded friendly personality with an interest in a strategic focus. You will need to be a very accurate, capable and competent Company Accountant to join at an Intermediate to Senior level (with some truly valuable mentorship on offer to guide a clean hand over). This role is an accountants dream - with a true focus on strategy and revenue growth, due to being a business that operates with healthy revenue.

Guiding at the helm of this highly successful and thriving business, and weighing in on strategy and the future vision for this company, there is so much to learn and enjoy working with this company.

With a new strategy in place for the 2024 year, and plenty of support around this position, this role has now opened up to one lucky person who has perhaps not yet gained their CA, but has the qualities of a professional Accountant, and a proven track record of loyalty and performance. With support and training, and the added benefit of an overseeing financial advisor as required, this is a truly unique and exciting position for a passionate and accurate Company Accountant wanting to embed for a long term future. This medium sized family owned and operated business has a retail and export focus, and is managed from Auckland but has branches in Wellington and Christchurch and a wider NZ focus.

This is a unique sole accounting role in a small finance team of 3, surrounded by a wider team of professionals who are down to earth professionals in their field. The key to the success of this replacement is in finding a person who will work well with the wider business teams, who has excellent comms and enjoys managing the numbers in a people focused business. The right personality will enjoy a bit of banter, it is generally a 'fairly male orientated space' so some degree of robustness is important.

Your focus will be on producing the right financial paperwork, with a lean into the advisory role as time and experience allows, supporting the company's successful journey forward into new future proofing territory.

Around you, you will have a team of down to earth and knowledgeable people, led by an exceptionally experienced business owner who has navigated with success, NZ's vast array of financial climates these past few decades.

You will be joining a medium sized business, with three locations in NZ, and a thriving Mt Wellington based office. The expectation is that you will be a constant presence in the office, with an open door policy. The right person for this role will have a real passion for your contribution, and an understanding of the impact you have on providing sound financial guidance to your team. You will be approachable and open minded and lead without an ego, prepared to really learn the intricacies and specifications of your place in the success of this organisation. Family owned and operated, it goes without saying that personality is key to your success.

Your background will ideally consist of a confident and positive contribution as a Company Accountant, perhaps not yet CA qualified, and ideally in a retail focused business.

The wider team consists of some of the most experienced people at a peak in their career in specialised careers, through to those who have just started their journey in employment. Your approachability to all members of this team is key. You will work with a management team who have strong family relations and therefore it's own naturally formed processes - there is always room for improvements to processes and systems, and with time and trust these can be challenged and reviewed.
