Position Overview: As a Speech-Language Therapist, you will play a crucial role in our Older Adult, Rehabilitation, and Allied Health Services. This position is based in the hospital, with potential opportunities to support the outpatient service.

Responsibilities: In this role, you will independently manage a caseload with increasing complexity, prioritizing patients and allocating referrals effectively. Conducting comprehensive assessments, you will deliver individualized speech-language therapy interventions, ensuring effective communication with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team.

Your role extends to assessing patient progress, adjusting interventions, and referring to other services when necessary. You will contribute to discharge/transfer plans, manage clinical risks, and actively engage in continuing professional development, training, and interdisciplinary education.

As a leader within the team, you'll attend relevant meetings, assist in clinical assurance activities, and delegate tasks to support staff. Additionally, you'll participate in local audit and research projects, contribute to quality improvement activities, and establish working partnerships with external organizations.

Key Relationships & Authorities: You will report to the Team Leader, Speech-Language Therapy, while collaborating closely with internal stakeholders such as professional leaders, allied health teams, and external partners.

Competencies: Your role requires strong problem-solving abilities, interpersonal savvy, effective communication, teamwork, time management skills, and a commitment to continuous self-development.

Qualifications & Experience: To thrive in this role, you should hold a Speech-Language Therapy qualification, be a member of the New Zealand Speech-language Therapists' Association (NZSTA), and demonstrate a commitment to Treaty of Waitangi principles. A full NZ driver's license is essential.
