Role Purpose:
As an Extended Care Paramedic / Paramedic, you will play a crucial role in providing urgent and unscheduled care directly to patients and their families in the community. You'll work alongside the Comprehensive Primary and Community Team (CPCT) to conduct advanced medical assessments, initiate treatment, and manage referrals for low and medium acuity patients. Your ability to manage patients in their own environment will be key to improving health outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide advanced clinical assessments and treatments for patients in community settings.
  • Manage unscheduled and urgent care cases, ensuring appropriate referral and follow-up.
  • Work closely with the General Practice and CPCT to support patients and ensure comprehensive care.
  • Adhere to health and safety protocols and demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor of Health Science in Paramedicine or working towards a postgraduate diploma.
  • At least 3 years of experience working as a paramedic.
  • Current registration and Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) from the Paramedic Council.
  • Strong relationship management and communication skills.
  • A clean, current full driver's license.
  • Experience working in a culturally responsive manner, prioritizing high-needs populations, including Māori and Pacific peoples.

Desirable Skills:

  • Current authorised vaccinator certification.
  • Experience leading or advising health professionals.
  • Familiarity with healthcare systems such as Medtech and Houston.
